Safety Instructions

Please observe the following safety instructions and carry out all installation steps carefully and completely, as failure to observe them can lead to material damage, damage to property and personal injury. The installation must only be carried out by specialist workshops!
2 First check as follows whether it is possible to install the mats
a) In the case of seats with glued covers, installation is complicated or not possible at all.
b) Installation is not possible for seats with longitudinal trenches.
c) Installation is not possible on seats with a central panel less than 270mm wide, as the edges must end before the lateral longitudinal trenches.
3) Observe the vehicle manufacturer's instructions if seat occupancy detection is present!
4. observe the vehicle manufacturer's instructions if seat belt tensioners are present!
5. follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions if side airbags are installed in the seat backrest!
a) Seat covers and seams must not be altered.
b) Heating mats may only be applied in the middle part of the foam padding.
6) Check the wiring diagram of the vehicle to make sure that the vehicle electrical system and cable cross-sections are suitable for the additional current loads.
7. check whether there is a suitable place to install the switches
8. use only the original components included in the scope of delivery!
9. the heating elements must not be shortened in width. Longitudinal cuts are not permitted. Narrow transverse cuts are possible, as is shortening the mat at the end opposite the cable! (Fig. 1)
10. the heating mats can be laid through the transverse trenches of the foam padding, but edges of a transverse cut-out must end before the trenches.
11. the carbon fibres must not have any contact with electrically conductive components such as upholstery clips or seat frames. Insulate cut-out edges with fabric adhesive tape.
12. the electrodes must not be damaged at the cross-cuts. Keep a minimum distance of 40mm from the side edge. (fig. 2)
13 The carbon fibres, which usually protrude a few millimetres from the sides of the mats, must never come into contact with electrically conductive components. Any contact with guy wires in a compressed state must also be avoided!
14. the heating elements must be securely fixed (e.g. suitable spray adhesive) and installed without wrinkles, otherwise there is a risk of fire!
15. make sure that the heating elements are not damaged during installation. Possible causes are upholstery clamps, auxiliary tools or sharp-edged seat frames.
16. when gluing the heating elements, the moulded body must be free of silicone, grease and dust. Complete adhesive strength is achieved by sufficient contact pressure and sufficient exposure time. Normally it takes several hours. A completely installed heating element must not be removed and reinstalled.
17. make sure that the seat can be moved in the guide rails without any problems if the cables are laid and fixed correctly!
18. avoid contact with sharp edges, kinks and tensile stresses in order not to damage the cable insulations!
19. write down codes of volatile memories (radio, navigation etc.) and disconnect the battery before working on the vehicle's electrical system to connect the heating elements!
The heating temperature varies depending on the seat and cover material.
21. in case of failure, please check the fuse first!
22. explain the operation and safety aspects when handing over the vehicle to the customer.

Warning notes

Observe the safety instructions and requirements prescribed by the vehicle manufacturer and the motor vehicle trade! The manufacturer accepts no liability for possible damage in the following cases:
Assembly or connection errors
Damage to the product due to mechanical influences and overvoltages
Changes to the product without the express permission of the manufacturer
Use for purposes other than those described in the instructions

Attention!

Always disconnect the negative pole before working on the vehicle's electrical system because of the danger of short circuits. For vehicles with an additional battery, the negative pole must also be disconnected.

Warning!

Inadequate cable connections can result in the following consequences due to short circuit
Cable fires occur,
an airbag is triggered,
electronic control devices are damaged,
electrical functions fail (indicators, brake light, horn, ignition, light).

Warning!

Safety instruction: Non-observance can lead to death or serious injury.

Caution!

Non-observance can lead to material damage and impair the function of the product.

Note

Only use insulated cable lugs, plugs and flat pin receptacles when working on the following cables: Terminal 15 (switched plus, behind battery)

Never use luster terminals or branch connectors (current thieves).
The safest way to connect them is to solder the cable ends together and then insulate them. Only use insulated cable lugs, plugs and flat receptacles when making detachable connections. Do not use crimp connectors (cable connectors) or luster terminals. Use crimping pliers to connect the cables.
Screw the cable to line 31 (earth) when connecting

  • with cable lug and toothed lock washer to a vehicle's own earth screw or
  • with cable lug and self-tapping screw to the body panel.

Always ensure a good earth connection!

When the negative pole of the battery is disconnected, all volatile memories of the comfort electronics lose their stored data. The following data must be reset depending on the vehicle equipment: Radio code, vehicle clock, on-board computer, seating position. You will find instructions for setting them in the relevant operating instructions for the vehicle.
