For the new QXE woofer series, ESX developers have designed completely new cast aluminum baskets. Two characteristics were particularly important in the design of these baskets: maximum centering to ensure optimal membrane excursion and excellent rear ventilation of the spider and voice coil. This reduces compression during membrane deflection and promotes voice coil cooling. To further improve cooling and thus increase the load capacity, the T-plate has been additionally equipped with ventilation holes. The 76 mm (3") dual voice coil on a black anodized aluminum carrier is driven by two powerful 100 oz (Y30) magnets, ensuring extremely efficient performance of up to 89 dB. The 40 mm long-wound voice coil gives the diaphragm a linear excursion of +/- 14 mm and a mechanical excursion of up to +/- 22 mm. As a result, the scooped paper diaphragm with double-stitched foam surround develops enormous sound pressure and precise-sounding bass.
