As the heart of the HiFonics ZEUS EVOLUTION woofer, powerful Y35 magnets with a diameter of 140 mm drive large 64 mm voice coils. These are ventilated with thermally efficient pole core holes. In addition, so-called "bumped" T-plates (pole plates) ensure an even longer stroke, which reaches up to +/- 17 mm (X-Max). While inexpensive woofers usually use pressed diaphragms, ZXE woofers rely on expensive, hand-made paper diaphragms with double-stitched surrounds, which are known for their particularly good sound. All these ingredients give the ZXE subs an extremely good efficiency of 92 and 90 dB at 2.83 volts/1 m, meaning that even with a small input, the bass can already achieve high volumes. The Thiele-Small parameters are designed so that the ZXE woofers can be used to build powerful bass reflex speakers with decent depth and medium-sized, closed enclosures. Even free-air applications are possible.

The Zeus bass drivers also match the HF style visually: a newly tooled gasket, the blue magnet boot typical of HiFonics, and the blue-stitched surround membrane seam proudly display the HiFonicsbrand insignia.
