With the new VULCAN VRX models , HiFonics is now expanding its range to include bass-heavy under-seat subwoofers in the 20 and 25 cm class with full aluminum enclosures. These subwoofers not only impress with their attractive prices, but also, as usual, with the HiFonics fans worldwide. Many inexpensive under-seat subs often use economy circuits in the amplifier section or even cheap ICs. Not so with the two new HiFonics models. Both VULCAN VRX subs feature full-fledged Class A/B MosFet power amplifiers that are very load-stable and always deliver plenty of power. With a maximum output of 250 watts in the 8" (20 cm) model and 300 watts in the 10" (25 cm) model, they really heat up the special woofers. The subwoofers also have particularly stable diaphragms to withstand the high pressures that occur in the small enclosures due to the compression of the air volume. Conventional bass speakers with standard membranes would be completely unsuitable here and would burst. With an adjustable low-pass filter, bass boost, switchable phase shift, and a bass level remote control, the connection to the system is almost perfect. Of course, both also have a high-level input with automatic switch-on to ensure connection to factory radios without a RCA output, for example.
